YLD Foundation

YLD FoundationJ. P. Zeigler, LLC actively supports the YLD Leadership Development Foundation.

Yvorra Leadership Development promotes the importance of leadership as a key element in developing and improving emergency services  in the United States. YLD provides limited financial support to qualified applicants to pursue advanced training in leadership.  The Foundation also promotes awareness of the need for leadership development in the fire and emergency medical communities. YLD has awarded $103,000 in scholarships since its founding.

YLD was founded in 1988 in memory of Deputy Fire Chief James G. Yvorra, who was killed in the line of duty. In 1995, YLD added EMS scholarships through an endowment from the estate of Donald E. Sellers.  In 2007, the John M. Eversole Endowment was added for scholarships focused on hazardous materials responders through generous contributions of Chief Eversole’s family, friends and fellow hazmat professional.

Jim Yvorra and Jim Zeigler were close friends starting in Junior High School in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. Chief Yvorra was Best Man at the marriage of Dr. and Mrs. Zeigler.  Dr. Zeigler is honored to serve on the Board of YLD Foundation.
